Project Hope

Covering a vast expanse of land, China faces an unbalanced economic growth. In certain regions, especially those poverty-stricken areas, children are deprived of education. Some research institutes and education departments suffer shortage in funds, which restricts the sound development of education and has an adverse effect on maintaining a steady, fast and sustainable growth of economics and improving the quality of the whole nation.

Haier is sincerely devoted to promoting education. The issue of children education has become a major concern for CEO Zhang Ruimin, who believes that the growth of a business can't be accomplished without the support from the community and a socially responsible business should make every effort to repay the community. For this purpose, Haier have been devoted to children education from the very beginning.

CEO Zhang is not only enthusiastic at helping others but also active in encouraging Haier employees to do what they can for children education. For many years, Haier Group has funded approximately RMB 160 million for school dropouts and Project Sprout. In particular, Haier Group has planned to provide financial support for 100 Haier Hope Primary Schools over all the country. By now Haier has donated RMB 13.53 million and there are 47 Haier Hope Primary Schools in 21 provinces, autonomous regions or municipalities directly under the Central Government, helping more than 30 thousands children back in classrooms. In these well equipped classrooms, children are learning for a bright future.

The donation to 47 Haier Hope Primary Schools reflects the sincere heart of Haier people for the public good. The Project Hope is a public benefit that will last through all eternities. What Haier has done for promoting basic education in poverty-stricken areas and improving conditions for schools in less developed areas is the initiative of a new social tendency to care for education and the growth of the younger generation.
