On August 12th, 2005, OCOG Beijing announced at the Olympic Sailing Center of Qingdao that Haier had been approved to be an official sponsor of Beijing Olympics 2008. OCOG Beijing Marketing Manager, Yuan Bin, and President of Haier Group, Yang Mianmian, signed the agreement in the presence of warm applause.
On May 15th, 2005, "Haier Cup" Qingdao International Marathon 2005' sponsored by Haier started. Vice chairman of Haier Group's board, Wu Kesong, addressed the opening ceremony.
On July 13th, 2004, the 3rd anniversary of China's winning bid to host Olympics, Haier Group gave the gymnasts of the national team leaving for Athens Olympics the latest Haier laptop computers as a gift to satisfy the needs for wireless network access and on-line communication on the move.
On June 3rd, 2004, 20 young athletes of Shandong Hope Primary Schools - Haier Team came back loaded with honors after taking part in Inaugural National Games of Hope Primary Schools on behalf of Shandong Province. They were warmly received at Qingdao Railway Station by leaders and officers from Qingdao League Committee, Haier Group and relevant departments. These students had been selected by YDF Shandong and Project Hope Qingdao Office from seven
Haier Hope Primary Schools including Hualou and Lingshan, as an appreciation of Haier's long-term support for Project Hope. They were the representative of 520 Hope Primary Schools in Shandong and it's a great opportunity for them to take part in the National Games of Hope Primary Schools held for the first time for 15 years since the Project Hope had been launched.
On April 13th, 2004, Haier became the title sponsor of Melbourne Tiger, Australia. This is the first time a Chinese enterprise acts as the title sponsor of an overseas club.
