Haier Information Industrial Park

The 150-mu Haier Information Industrial Park (HIIP) is adjacent to the Haier Industrial Park. It was constructed in 1998 and put into use in 1999. The construction of HIIP is an important strategic measure taken by Haier Group in its endeavor to enter the white appliances manufacturing sector. Facilities in the park include a multi-level material distribution warehouse, an information appliances manufacturing center, an advanced mold workshop and an electronic control module workshop. Haier University is also located in the park. It consumed a total investment of RMB500 million.

Haier Group is the earliest home appliances maker in China to adopt logistic management. Logistics is an important link in Haier's "market chain business flow renovation". Through its advanced logistic system, Haier has realized integrated control of the whole production process from purchase of raw materials under perfect price parities to product manufacture, inspection, delivery and shipment. Haier logistic system breaks free from the traditional closed purchasing model under which materials are kept in stock and adopts one under which goods are purchased by placing orders with powerful suppliers who have taken part in pre-stage designs. Through JIT purchase, JIT delivery and JIT distribution, the goal of zero stock can be met. The figures listed below can demonstrate the benefits brought about by the logistic system: the cost of products and finished products in Haier accounted for 7.9% of the sales income in 2001, whereas the national average was 30% for the 180 thousand domestic enterprises; the logistic management cost in Haier accounted for 7.0% of the total commodity cost, whereas the cost in other enterprises was 15%.
