Haier is like the sea. Since its start, Haier Group, led by Zhang Ruimin, has been public-spirited and devoted its energy to public good like the sea for over 20 years following the motto of "Sincere Forever".
In 1993, Haier funded the 212-episode animation film, Haier Brothers; in 1994, Haier became a sponsor of Project Hope; in 1998, Haier invested in Haier Science and Technology Museum, a children's education center of poplar science; in 2002, Haier sponsored the major events such as China Children & Teenagers (Haier) Science & Technology Award and Haier Star - Be a Little Host of Olympics. Haier was awarded many prizes by the provincial League committee of Yunnan, the municipal League committee of Qingdao and the Project Hope office, including Outstanding Contribution to Project Hope and Haier of The Community. On September 6th, 2002, United Way International, a worldwide charity organization, presented two awards to CEO Zhang Ruimin of Haier Group, i.e. Global Business Leader Award and Best Donor Award. In January 2004, CYDF presented Haier the prize of Special Contribution to Project Hope and Haier was the only winner of this prize among domestic enterprises. In January 2005, CEO Zhang Ruimin of Haier Group was elected the Love of China - Inaugural Most Influential Charity Figures of China. Statistics show that Haier Group has donated RMB 250 million to social education, disaster relief and help-the-poor programs.
Haier has made major contribution to the community over the past twenty years. By exploring and satisfying the needs of various customers, Haier has made itself an internationally recognized brand. Haier is also a responsible tax payer. The sum of its tax payment has added up to 13.6 billion yuan. In 2004, the amount was 2 billion yuan, averaging 5.5 million a day. Haier has more than 50,000 employees and creates another 175,000 work opportunities directly.
