For its first 3D TV range, Haier is opting for polarisation technology and making the entire range Internet ready
Haier chooses polarised 3D
Haier aims to appeal to a great many people, particularly families and has therefore chosen polarisation technology for its first 3D TV range. Advantages of polarised 3D are:
- Affordable technology: Haier’s televisions are within the price-reach of a large number of consumers
- The accessible price of the lightweight, battery free glasses means that viewers can afford to buy a pair for each member of the family as well as extras for guests.
- Greater viewing comfort: you no longer need to be directly opposite the TV as the viewing angle has been enlarged – families will certainly appreciate not having to fight for the best seat! You no longer need to keep your head straight either as the image will be excellent even when you are stretched out on the sofa...
As 3D content is still relatively scarce, Haier’s 3D TV range enables both polarised or active 3D formats to be viewed, as well as classic 2D formats. The TVs also have a ‘2D to 3D’ convertor, enabling any 2D video stream to be converted into 3D.
Haier makes its 3D TVs Internet ready!
Haier’s 3D TV range will also be connected to the Internet via ‘widget’ applications, meaning that users can view films (VOD, catch up TV), listen to music, share photos, access information such as weather reports or stay in touch with their loved ones.
Thanks to the HbbTV standard compatible with the M500 series, these connected TVs will receive free of charge interactive content offered by TV channels from across Europe.
Haier already offers VOD services and the brand is currently developing partnerships on a country by country basis. Its services will be updated regularly as partners sign up.
This range uses Wi-Fi connection, reducing the number of cables required for communication in the home. DLNA certified, it also offers a high level of interaction with other devices in the home (camcorder, telephone, computer, etc) allowing you to transmit and play back your data.
Finally, thanks to its multi HDMI connections (3 rear inputs and 1 on the side), you can connect all your devices to your TV, making the most of your content and equipment in the best possible quality.
Top image quality and full functionality
Haier’s first 3D TV range is based on LED technology, which enables the use of an ultra-thin screen (less than 3cm thick), lower energy consumption, while at the same time providing a much higher contrast ratio (800,000:1), an increased colorimetric area for more realistic colours (105% of NTSC standard) and better luminosity definition on the screen.
With 200Hz image refreshing technology, Haier can offer real fluidity with animated pictures and great visual comfort. What’s more, because of the movement compensation possible with the MEMC technology digital corrector, which recalculates images, quick moving pictures will be even more precise and clear with genuine image fluidity.
Finally, as with all Haier LED TVs, these models are equipped with the Time Shift function, enabling a programme to be paused when the phone rings - just start watching again where you left off; meanwhile, the USB Recorder enables you to record any content you don’t want to miss on to a USB stick or external hard disk. Last but not least, the USB function enables you to make the most of your music, share your photos and view videos by connecting a USB compatible device to the USB port.
In order to reduce your energy consumption, you will be able to completely turn off your TV using the power off button, avoiding the energy wastage in standby mode. The television range also incorporates the latest software in line with the European Directive with regard to “Ecodesign requirements for televisions” covering automatic power-down.
Haier’s 3DTVs will be available in the UK from early 2012
