Haier's presence in international standards development As the only delegate of China on the Air-conditioner Session of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on March 29 in Arlington, US, Haier Group made its presence felt by breaking the long-time Western and Japanese enterprises' domination of international standards for air conditioners. Haier not only participated in the discussion on the development of new international safety standards for air conditioners, but also made three international standards proposals relating air-conditioning safety test conditions and structure. According to statistics, Haier Group, the first Chinese enterprise that managed to find its way into the core decision-making level of IEC, has got a total of 54 technical proposals for international standards up to date, of which 27 were formally adopted.
