Mr. Sun Weidong, Ambassador Peoples Republic of China visited Haier Pakistan Industrial Park in Lahore

The exceptionally strong relationship between China and Pakistan was highlighted by His Excellency Mr. Sun Weidong, Ambassador Peoples Republic of China during his visit to the Haier Pakistan Industrial Park in Lahore. Describing Pak China friendship as the stuff of legend, Ambassador Sun Weidong said Sino-Pak relations have reached unprecedented economic high points, adding that the strength, longevity and resilience of our relationship is cited as a model in the world. 

On arrival at the sprawling Haier Industrial Park, the Chinese envoy was met and welcomed by top officials of Haier Ruba Group led by Shah Faisal Afridi – CEO Haier Ruba Group and President of the Pak China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The ambassador was shown round the Haier Industrial Park manufacturing facility and saw at first hand the processes involved in the manufacture of Haier household appliances including design, fabrication and quality control - all processes which have made Haier a market leading brand in Pakistan. The facility established some twenty years ago works in line with Haier China’s policy of utilizing local manpower and resources to build indigenous capabilities and expertise. It has the capability of producing more than a million units per annum.

The park which is spread over some 70 acres on the outskirts of Lahore, houses state of the art manufacturing facilities and a workers’ colony – where Chinese engineers and technicians live and work side by side with Pakistani technicians and workers.

Mr. Shah Faisal Afridi, briefed the honorable guests about salient features of Pakistan investment milieu. In his detailed presentation, he highlighted the huge potential of Pakistan market in terms of high profitability, vast population,and increased disposable incomes as compared to other regional markets.He especially emphasized the potential of energy sector by highlighting the demand/supply gap with special reference to escalated energy demand in years to come. Shah Faisal offered the services of his group for promoting the cause of propelling cross border trade between the two friendly countries. He said the economic relationship between Pakistan and China is composed primarily of Chinese investment in Pakistani interest.
