New Delhi, 18 January 2022: Haier, the global leader in Home Appliances & Consumer Electronics and World’s Number 1 brand in Major Appliances for 13 Consecutive Years*, in association with Malganga Andh Apang Seva Sanstha, today laid the foundation stone for the Sanstha’s ‘New Vision College of Arts and Commerce’ in Pune. Intending to increase the number of students every year in a sustainable effort, Haier has been supporting the Sanstha for the last few years.
New Vision College of Arts and Commerce is a new initiative of Malganga Andh Apang Seva Sanstha to strengthen their commitment to enable visually and physically challenged students from urban and rural areas from all over the country. The college will continue to support the students by offering courses across fields such as arts, commerce, technology, etc., apart from encouraging them to partake in other activities including Paralympic sports, personality development, and technical skill development, which will enable them to reach their true potential and lead financially independent lives.
The Malaganga Andh Apang Seva Sanstha was established in 2005 by social worker Jaie Khamkar who lost her sight at a young age and realized that visually and physically challenged students lacked basic access to education, thus hindering their progress in society. She started the Sanstha which uses state-of-the-art facilities, including computer-aided assistive technologies for teaching and learning for students. The Sanstha’s faculty and non-teaching staff are both sensitized to work with students with disabilities and undergo regular training sessions to understand their academic needs.
Supporting the Sanstha, Haier aims at making differently-abled students financially and socially independent so they can have a better quality of life. Through its consistent efforts, the Sanstha has educated and supported thousands of challenged students to not just earn a degree but also live a dignified life with independence.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Jaie Khamkar, Founder President, Malganga Andh Apang Seva Sanstha, said, “On behalf of the whole Sanstha, I am thrilled to lay the foundation stone of our ‘New Vision College of Arts and Commerce’. We will continue to work with visually and physically challenged students and provide them with an empowering educational space that will help them progress in life without fear. We are thankful to Haier for their continuous support and we look forward to working with them in the future as well.”
Expressing his thoughts, Mr. Satish N.S., President, Haier Appliances India, said, “Hearty congratulations to the Malganga Andh Apang Seva Sanstha for laying the foundation stone of its ‘New Vision College of Arts and Commerce’. We at Haier are proud to support Ms. Jaie Khamkar’s relentless efforts towards inclusive education and the social progress of the students and will continue to cheer for them. Keeping true to our ‘Inspired Living’ philosophy, we look forward to taking inspiration from Ms. Khamkar and her students and contributing towards their empowerment.”
