Haier Malaysia Powers the Next Generation of Badminton Champions with One Badminton Junior Development Program

Haier Electrical Appliances (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. proudly announces the “Be the Next Champion” Junior Development Program, a collaborative initiative with One Badminton to nurture Malaysia’s future badminton stars.

Running from July to December 2025, the six-month program will reach over 10,000 students across 20 schools in the Klang Valley through talent search activities, with the mission to provide opportunities for young athletes—particularly those from B40 and underserved communities—to access structured training and international exposure.

Under the program’s development pathway, the top 16 selected juniors aged 8–12 will undergo weekly elite training sessions with professional coaches. These players will participate in monthly tournaments, including the first-ever Haier Junior Cup 2025, before advancing to other national competitions. The top four performers will then earn the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the prestigious Bangthongyord (BTY) International Tournament in Thailand.

“We want to give these kids a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. With Haier’s support, we can take the first step to build national and international champions. This is not just a trip — it’s a pathway to their dreams,” said Coach Ho Khek Mong, Head Coach of One Badminton.

This partnership reflects Haier’s long-term commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its dedication to empowering youth through sports, discipline, and education.

“At Haier, we believe in creating more than just world-class home appliances. We want to create opportunities that inspire the next generation. Supporting this Junior Development Program allows us to give back to the community while investing in Malaysia’s sporting future,” said Julian Thean, Head of Marketing, Haier Malaysia.

With this initiative, Haier and One Badminton envision a sustainable pathway that will develop young talent from grassroots level into potential state, national, and even world-class champions.
