When Indian Saree encounters Haier's drum washing machine
Although the time for knocking off had past, we guys still stayed fo's drum washer with the function of water-tower-wash, Indian ladies are spared from the troubles of washing.
Watching Haier's Ad
I went to India to do a market survey in May 2006. One evening when the local company's sale supervisor and I got back to the office after a day's survey, it was already nearly nine o'clock. However, to my surprise I found all the office staff had not left, but watching TV in front of the exhibition hall.
It turned out that Haier was a sponsor for the MTV global ceremony and in return a local TV channel very popular with TV viewers was broadcasting once an hour a 30-second advertisement for Haier. A staff accidentally saw the clip in his excitement and all the other people were called to watch together. Therefore, despite long after knocking-off time, they still stayed only for watching "Our Haier's Ad".
I was deeply moved by this: Although they are only foreign staff they are extremely loyal to our brand. Moreover, I also felt obligated to increase the brand value of Haier.
With such an obligation, my task gets increasingly arduous: make more consumers feel the passionate and quality service of Haier.
Saree and water tower
In summer people love to wear some light and thin clothes. Indian ladies particularly love to wear the beautiful and graceful Saree. Saree is the name for a type of garments, like the Chinese cheongsam and Japanese kimono. The best temperature for washing Saree that is made of silk is 40 degrees Celsius. Since India severely lacks of fresh water, water in many cities is only supplied for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. Consequently, almost every family in India has a water tower on top of their house to store water. Usually the water temperature can reach 25-40 degrees Celsius after a day's heating by the sun. Indian ladies' Saree becomes ever more beautiful because of the washing by the moderately heated water stored in the water tower. It seems that Saree has nothing to do with water tower; however, I sensed the needs of the local consumers through this. Link them by Haier's washing machine!
Once having returned to China, I improved a model of washer that would be exported to India with the model manager according to the Indian consumer's needs. Due to the unstable local voltage, wide voltage design was added to this model. Water tower wash replaced the original cold wash; when the consumer presses the key for water tower wash, the washer uses the water coming from the water tower, without any need to heat and washing directly starts, thus saving a lot amount of water, electricity, and time.
As a result, when Indian Saree encounters Haier's specially designed drum washer, Indian ladies are spared from troubles of washing.
Mice "eat" washing machine
Have you ever heard that mice can eat washing machine? The environment of many places in India is very bad so that mice swarm. Even in the office of Indian custom, mice are running around. Our customer service reported that some washing machines were bitten by mice, which we could not dare to believe. However, so is the fact. There are too many mice in India and the houses in India usually very low and mice can easily run from one place to the other. As the rubber in the engine for expelling water in our washing machine does not have enough protection, it can be easily broken by the desperately hungry rice. This appears to have resulted from the poor local environment, but it also reflects drawbacks in our work that our products cannot meet local needs.
Accordingly, our technicians have made proper adjustments, adding an anti-mouse board to the washer. This problem has been properly resolved.
This trip to India impressed me enormously: The power of a brand is huge, to which the hearts of all Haier people are drawn. The power of the brand is supported by everyone's sincerity and hard work. The expansion of the brand at overseas market requires that our products are adapted to local needs and are able to impress local consumers.
