On October 8, 2005, a major earthquake - measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale - hit the north area of Pakistan. The quake was believed to be the most powerful over the past 100 years in the history of this region. Immediately after the quake, Pakistani government took measures for disaster relief. In addition to the cash donation of 40,000,000 rupee (approximately RMB4 million), Haier (Pakistan) provided assistance in terms of the sales and service networks and vehicles to Pakistani Government for transportation of relief commodities.

Reportedly, during the process of relief goods transportation, drivers from different areas of Pakistan were not familiar with the local conditions.
