Haier Wine Cooler and "Mini Whiz Kid" Washing Machine Won Design Prizes
The 2002 Japanese G-Mark Design Prizes were revealed recently. The compact wine cooler and the "Mini Whiz Kid" washing machine designed by Haier Group won prizes. This was the first time that Chinese industrial designs won G-Mark prizes. In the past, the prizes were all taken away by such known names as Sony, Panasonic and Honda.
The annual G-Mark prize is one of the top prizes in the world design sector. The prize covers almost all areas such as architecture, home appliances and communication, and is given to designers all over the world. The prize, which is issued by the Japanese government, represents the ultimate international honor for product design. The prizewinners are also authorized the right to use the G-Mark logo, which is a sign of customer satisfaction for product design, technology and performance. It is also a sign of global consumption trend.
