Haier and OBI Join Hands
At 16:00 June 30, Koln Time, a signing ceremony was held in Koln, Germany between Haier and the German OBI for a joint venture to develop the Chinese furniture market. Haier president Yang Mianmian and vice president Zhou Yunjie attended the ceremony and held talks with Mr H, president of Tengelmann, the No. 1 shareholder of OBI, and OBI chairman Mr M, president Mr L and manager in charge of the Asian market.
OBI is the largest building material chain supermarket in Germany and the fourth largest in the world. It has rich experience for market operation and management, and enjoys a good renown. The one-stop concept of Haier Furniture has quite a lot in common with OBI.
After the ceremony, President Yang and Vice President Zhou, accompanied by Mr H and others, paid a visit to the Tengelmann Headquarters, OBI Headquarters and OBI stores of various sizes. Both sides showed confidence in developing the Chinese market in the next 5-10 years (see the united storefront trademark).
