Haier-Sanyo Co-op Widely Covered in Chinese and Japanese Media
After the announcement of the establishment of the joint venture company ¡ª Sanyo-Hair Co, by the Haier Group and Sanyo in Osaka on January 8th, there has been a lot of coverage of the event in both Chinese and Japanese media.
This cooperation "will become a model case for exploiting the Japanese market," said the Nikkei Shimpun in an article titled China's Biggest House Appliance Maker Haier Group Enters Japan to Join Forces with Sanyo for Cooperation in Production and Marketing in China.
"Today, Haier has 42 domestic distribution companies under its direct control and has accumulated many experiences in selling its product in domestic market. It is a rare fortune for Sanyo Motor, who expects to market its own products in China, and for Haier, setting up a joint sales company with Sanyo is a shortcut to promote Haier products in Japan," the Nikkei BP said under a headline Haier and Sanyo Hand in Hand to Push Products in Japan.
The headline news on the front page of the Asahi Shimbun newspaper said "such close cooperation in a diversity of fields is not only the ever first for both countries' household appliance industries, but also signifies that the relation between Japanese and Chinese enterprises has entered a phase of the peer to peer partnership."
Other media including the Yomiuri On Line, Nikkei Net, Sankei Shimbun and Mainichi Daily News had a lengthy coverage of the event.
In China, the China Central Television Station's (CCTV) programs including Network News, China Report, Economy Half-hour and China Financial Report, and various newspapers had a good coverage of the Haier-Sanyo cooperation.
"After my visit to Haier's plant, I found that it's the company that has well-trained employees and capability to head on challenges. I want to inspire our staff members on the part of Sanyo with purchase of Haier products," said Satoshi Iue, president of Sanyo, when asked by a CCTV reporter with the question "why Sanyo selects Haier as its partner among so many companies".
