The Japanese Forbes: Haier Is a Powerful Competitor
The Japanese Forbes published (on its November issue) an article entitled "Haier's Success Indicates China Will Exceed America in Sales Volume of White Household Appliances". The following is an abstract:
Haier's success does not merely mean achievements made by Haier; the implication for Haier's success is that one can find changes in China's economy. Haier is now exporting to more than 160 countries. This means that the Chinese economy, which used to be closed to the outside world, has completed its first phase of transition towards a market economy.
Mr Chen Minjie, a business professor of Virginia University and an expert on China's economy, said, "after China enters WTO, there will be tremendous changes in the Chinese economy. Based on its size and business scope, Haier will become a center for those changes. In another word, for those foreign enterprises who want to be successful in China, Haier will be a powerful competitor. Haier's super managerial methods and powerful leadership will surprise overseas companies."
