Haier Is Erecting Its Image in America
Routers (New York): For many American consumers, commodities labeled with "Made in China" are little more than cheap toys. However, as the largest Chinese household appliance manufacturer, Haier is trying to change this image in people's memory.
According to industrial development statistics, Haier is now the world's second largest refrigerator producer. By erecting its image rather than resorting to price cuts, the company is trying to tap the American market by wining popularity among pupil consumers.
This strategy, which can be adopted by other Chinese companies for popular consumables, has paid off. This are confirmed by two cases from the world largest retailer WMT.N.
The spokesman of WMT.N., Mr Robert Philip said, "Haier products are very popular. Their sales have been much better than we expected." He also pointed out that Haier's 4.6- and 5-cubic foot freezers were similar to GE product in price.
Haier is located in Qingdao, a port city in Northern China. Since 1992, the company has exported refrigerators to America. It looks likely to become one of the world three largest household appliance manufacturers.
