The Time for Chinese Hero Entrepreneurs has come¡ª¡ªJapanese media's views on t..
Editor: How do you evaluate Haier's development? The following comments are extracted from Japanese mass media such as Western Japanese News and Central Public Views:
The First Chinese Entrepreneur to Win World-wide Reputation
In China, the most highlighted enterprise is the Haier Group, a household appliance manufacturer. The leader of this "Chinese Panasonic" is Zhang Ruimin (CEO).
Haier's outstanding achievements have erected it as a modal for other Chinese enterprises, who used to feel inferior to transnational companies in China, to compete with no more fears. The success of Zhang Ruimin shows that the time for becoming Chinese hero entrepreneurs has come. Mr Zhang's success also indicates that in the 21st Century, China will experience a period when economy weighs more than politics.
It will be not very long before the Chinese overtakes the Japanese in the economic field.
The Haier Group has defeated Japanese enterprises in the area of services. In an interview with a large Japanese household appliance company, one carder said, "We can never go as far as Haier has reached", when he was told about Haier's service coverage.
Now the Haier Group is offering a service to install an air conditioner within 24 hours after the purchase of it is made. The Japanese counterparts, however, can do nothing to match Haier in this respect.
The "Chinese Panasonic"
Over the last few years, a Chinese household appliance company has been growing up rapidly. It is the Haier Group in Shandong province of China. Some people call it the "Chinese Panasonic".
Now Japanese enterprises face great challenges in competing with Chinese enterprises for household appliance markets.
Judging by overall economic strengths, Japan is much superior to China. However, there are various problems with the Japanese economy. Through implementing reform and opening-up policies, China has been developing fast and getting closer to Japan. The Haier Group is a typical example.
The Rising Chinese Power in the Field of Household Appliances Is Pushing the Japanese-made Out
According to the writer prediction, Japanese enterprises would be thrown out of the Chinese market if they were not to change their present strategies completely.
The fundamental reason for the failure of Japanese companies lies in their lack of detailed market research over Chinese markets. They have simply treated the Chinese market as a place for selling goods in large quantities and for reaping from cheap labor.
