CEO of Haier Group won the "Business Leaders of the Past Ten years" t.. 2009 CCTV Economic Figures of the Year award ceremony, also known as the "Oscar in Economic Field" in China, was held in Beijing on Dec. 23, 2009. This is the tenth event of this award. 10 "Economic Figures of the Year", together with 10 "Business Leaders of the Past Ten Years" were selected at this particular moment. Zhang Ruimin, CEO of Haier Group, Liu Chuanzhi, chairman of Lenovo's Board of Directors and other eight elites were included in this "Business Leader of the Past Ten Years" list. Since the setup of this award in 2000, Mr. Zhang has been named as "Economic Figure of the Year" for two consecutive years in 2000 and 2001. For many years, Mr. Zhang has been leading the Haier Group on a way to sustained development with innovative strategic thoughts and management. When Mr. Zhang gave his award speech at the ceremony, he said: "For my award speech, there are three aspects to cover: firstly, a little disappointed. Ten years go by very quickly. What I thought ten years ago was to build up a world famous brand, but what we have achieved now is just something closer to our original goal. Secondly, a little surprised. Ten years, on the other hand, go by not that quickly. During this period, we have witnessed the transition of an era from traditional economy into internet economy; we have undergone the shift of the emphasis of our business from products to services. Thirdly, a little bit relieved. Since we have broken through the traditional way of doing business and are building up an online market-targeted world brand, we feel no regret about the past ten years." Under the leadership of Zhang Ruimin, CEO of Haier Group, Haier has developed into a world-leading brand for white appliances from scratch. Mr. Zhang gave award speech at the "Business Leader of the Past Ten Years" ceremony held by CCTV.
