Haier: from Product Manufaturer to Operator On Dec. 15, during the live programme of CCTV-That Day, which was specially planned for commemorating the 30th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up, the host called up Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin on the recording spot. In the programme, Lu Xiaohua, Senior Editor from Xinhua New Agency shared his comments on Haier. For that matter, on Dec. 15, during the live programme of CCTV-That Day, which was specially planned for commemorating the 30th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up, the host called up Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin on the recording spot. CEO Zhang Ruimin summarized the transformation that Haier has undergone during 30 years of reform and opening-up with five words, namely "Reform, Opening-up, Business Building, Innovation and Brand". He said, "the reform and opening-up provided opportunities to enterprises, while the business building and innovation within the enterprise created conditions for grasping those opportunities. Meanwhile, branding has been the development goal of enterprises during those 30 years. Haier aims to become the most beloved brand at global market, and form an innovation platform for workers, enabling them to achieve their own value while creating value for the society." Confronting severe economic situation, Zhang Ruimin said , "only by integrating Chinese culture with local culture, and designing the products that meet the specific requirements of local people, can Haier become a genuine international brand". "My immediate feeling is that CEO Zhang Ruimin's understanding on enterprise has changed. His focus has shifted from manufacturing products to serving people. The evolvement from a group centering on producing products into a group focusing on serving people marks the beginning of enterprise upgrade", commented Senior Editor Lu Xiaohua in the programme.
