China Science Conference held in BeijingHaier was honored with the State Award .. Lv Peishi, assistant general manager of Haier Washing Machine, received the prize on behalf of Haier Group. On January 9, 2006, the China Science Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People. Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China and Chairman of the Military Commission of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a speech at the conference. Other Members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Political Bureau, including Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Huang Ju, Wu Guanzheng, Li Changchun and Luo Gan, attended the conference. China's Premier Minister Wen Jiabao read out the Decision of the State Council for State Awards of Scientific and Technological Research 2005. Haier was honored with the State Award for Scientific and Technological Progress (second place) for development of detergent free washing machines. Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin, the only representative of home appliance companies in Shandong Province, took part in the conference. At previously held conferences with the theme of innovation, Haier was also presented with the State Award for Scientific and Technological Progress (second place) for development of Haier detergent free washing machines. Haier environmentally friendly dual-drive washing machine was recognized by the conference for incorporating 32 patent technologies solving 15 technological problems. Over the past years, Haier has made significant progress in technological research and innovation. By the time being, Haier has obtained 11 state awards for scientific and technological progress (including 1 for international cooperation). In 2005, Haier obtained 720 patent certificates and developed 450 new products. On average, 2.8 patent certificates were obtained and 1.75 new products invented by Haier per day. Currently, Haier has received 6,189 patent certificates, including 819 for inventions. In the past 7 years, Haier received the largest number of patent certificates for home appliances. Haier has been authorized by the central government to carry out 8 of the State 863 Projects. The award is a demonstration of Haier's long-range policy to carry out independent innovation for global recognizable brand, marching with time and satisfying the demands of society.
