"Zhang Ruimin is a pioneer of Chinese enterprise quality management!" Chen Bangzhu, Member of Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political of Conference (CPPCC) and President of China Quality Control Association, quoted as saying, Zhang Ruimin honored with the Merit Honor of China Quality Management Award by Wang Zhongyu, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC. On January 8, 2006, the Awarding Ceremony for The First Survey of China's Outstanding Quality Managers was held in Diaoyutai State Guest House and Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin was honored with the Merit Honor of China Quality Management Award by Wang Zhongyu, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC, on behalf of China Quality Control Association and All China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU). In an opening speech, Chen Bangzhu, Member of Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political of Conference (CPPCC) and President of China Quality Control Association, is quoted as saying that "Zhang Ruimin is a pioneer of Chinese enterprise quality management!" The Merit Honor of China Quality Management Award is the highest-level prize of the Survey of China's Outstanding Quality Managers and was presented to three winners. Except for Zhang Ruimin, the other two winners were Yuan Baohua, honorary president of China Quality Control Association, and Liu Yuanzhang, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Haier was once honored with the Advanced Enterprise and Excellent Management Award and the State Quality Management Prize around 1990.
