Haier¡¯s Innovation of Business Operation for Global Brand Building Haier CE..
On October 29, 2005, the 14th Sino-Foreign Management Summit was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and Haier CEO Zhang Ruimi delivered key-note speech captioned Haier's Innovation of Business Operation for Global Brand Building.
"How to innovate development patterns, how to innovate management patterns and how to innovate corporate culture" were three issues that Zhang iterated in his key-note speech on Haier's worldwide brand building strategy.
Development pattern innovation
To shift technology introduction to
independent technological creation
Haier¡¯s swift development over the past 20 years is the profit from China¡¯s economic reform and Haier¡¯s timely policy to introduce overseas advanced technology and satisfy market demands. Current challenges Haier has to face include shrunk domestic market, accelerated development inertia and global market integration. From this point of view, we launch the Individual-Goal Combination pattern to further develop technological innovation.
Management pattern innovation
To shift from workshop management to information management pattern
Haier was once a small factory in terms of size and production scale, and problems can be immediately solved as a result. However, Haier launches manufacture and logistics service worldwide which cannot be well managed without advanced information tact. So the Individual-Goal Combination strategy is aimed to set up a network for customer management.
Corporate culture innovation
To shift from domestic corporate culture to diversified culture Development pattern of corporate culture
With the development of the company¡¯s globalization strategy, some of Haier¡¯s overseas managers do not accept the concept in innovative progress to catch up with or surpass leading competitors. As a result, internal competitive mechanism cannot be established. To help solve this issue, we should seek opportunities to launch model T of the Individual-Goal Combination strategy.
The key-note speech by Mr. Zhang Ruimin at the Summit attracted attention of the participants. About 700 government officials, entrepreneurs and scholars attended the meeting and took notes while listening to the speech in which Zhang cited the Theory of Wooden Barrel on Haier¡¯s Model T. One delegate event went up to the stage photographing all the speech slides with a digital camera. Audiences on the site burst out applauses when Zhang talked about changing the concept of Haier¡¯s executives in Europe. Journalists of LOTUS TV of Macao and other media companies interviewed Zhang Ruimin. Mr. Zhang¡¯s speech was televised live by sina.com and hc360.com.

At the Sino-Foreign Management Summit, Haier was given the 2005 China Outstanding Business Management Award. On behalf of Haier, Zhang Ruimin was conferred the award by Yuan Baohua, honorary chairman of China Enterprise Confederation.
