Manufacture facility to be set up in Chongqing for markets in Southwestern Chin..
On July 8, the signing ceremony for investing in Haier (Chongqing), Haier's 15th industrial complex in the world, was held in Chongqing. Wang Hongju, Vice Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Committee and Mayor of Chongqing, Huang Qifan, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chongqing and Vice Mayor of Chongqing, Zhang Ruimin, CEO of Haier, and Wu Kesong, Vice President of Board of Directors of Haier, took part in the event.
Wang Hongju was quoted as saying while delivering a speech at the signing ceremony that, "It is undoubted that Chongqing plant of Haier, a global recognizable brand, will play a significant role in restructuring local industries and improving industrial production capability and managerial expertise of local enterprises."
At the signing ceremony Zhang Ruimin iterated that the purpose to establish Haier Chongqing was to better understand the demands of consumers in China's southwestern area. Haier Chongqing will not only play an active role in manufacture, logistics, marketing, R&D and customer service, but also in stimulation of customer needs.
Haier Chongqing is located in Jiangbei District, Chongqing, and covers a total area of 96 hectares. RMB2.8 billion has been invested in phase 1 project of Haier Chongqing and the plant will be put into operation in 2006.
