"Haier's workers are respected", said Hua Junduo, Chinese Ambassador to India.
Mr. Adesh Jain, chairman of the International Project Management Association (IPMA), and Madam Xue Yan, researcher and the executive director of International Project Management Partner, visited Haier on March 16. During their stay in Haier, madam Xue Yan told Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin that she visited India many times and was met with by Hua Junduo, Chinese Ambassador to India. When the Ambassador knew that Xue Yan was from Qingdao, he told her a story. "Haier is a pride of China. In November, 2001, I took part in the IITF, the largest exhibition in India. At the exhibition, I saw that Haier's exhibition booths were well designed and prepared, and Haier employees worked hard. In front of Haier exhibition booths, there were some Indian hostesses introducing Haier products to visitors. To the contrast, some other Chinese companies did not operate the exhibition booths as well as they should. They went to Taj Mahal for outings, leaving their booth unattended. Haier employees dedicated themselves to the exhibition while being away from their senior management. This gave me a deep impression."
For this reason, Mr. Hua Junduo invited all Haier exhibition staff to the Chinese Embassy to India for a supper as "Haier won honor for China".
We were deeply moved after hearing this story happened 2 years ago. We would not know this would the visitor not tell us about his story as none of Haier staff he mentioned talked about this experience. Who are they working at the IITF? It has been found out that they are Shi Zhiyuan, staff of Haier Overseas Division and team leader of Haier IITF Exhibition, Zhang Zhichun and Ma Jian.
Do our employees know the significance of their behavior while staying abroad? Wherever we go inside or outside China, whatever we do and whatever we say, we represent Haier and Chinese.
