Zhang Ruimin Wins World Technology Grand Prize The 2002 World Technology Peak Conference closed in New York on July 22nd. Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin was awarded the Marketing and Exchange Grand Prize of the World Technology Grand Prizes. Mr Michael Jemal, president of the American Trade Company, received the honor on Zhang's behalf. More than 100 scholars and experts from around the world attended the gathering. Ten companies and 20 individuals had the honor to walk away with the grand prizes, which covered 20 technical fields. According to the organizer of the conference, the final winners had been selected by ballots by 100 authoritative experts in 6 months. The nominators held that "Mr Zhang Ruimin has made outstanding contributions in spreading Haier's new technologies to the world market through their innovative products."
