The Customs Opens "Green Channel" for Haier As the first and only large high-tech enterprise enjoying processing trade network supervision in Shandong Province, Haier Group was granted 10 nationwide convenient customs clearance measures from the customs authorities on the April 18th, becoming the first and only domestic enterprise enjoying nationwide convenient customs clearance in Shandong. Zhao Kezhi, vice governor of Shandong, Zhou Jiabin, vice mayor of Qingdao, Zou Zhiwu, commissioner of the Qingdao Customs, and Yang Mianmian, president of Haier Group, attended the preference awarding ceremony. The nationwide convenient customs clearance treatment is an affirmation of, as well as a support for, Haier's internationalization endeavor. With the development of the group and increase of exports, Haier involves itself more and more in customs affairs. In 1988, Haier had 87 kinds of imported goods and 2 kinds of export models, Germany being the only co-operative partner and refrigerator being the only commodity for export, with an annual export of less than 10,000 refrigerators. But now, Haier has more than 3,000 kinds of imported goods and over 1,000 kinds of exported products, including air conditioners, washing machines, color TV sets, mobile phones, microwave ovens and dishwashers, with business partners covering 160 countries. In 2001, Haier exported 4.3 million sets of a variety of products, including complete machines, SKDs and CKDs. Import and export containers exceeded 50,000 TEUs, with a daily use of about 200 TEUs. Due to business development, Haier has to export via the ports of Dalian, Hefei and Guangdong for the time being. And its export volume is increasing! Not is it simple increase of quantity, but unimaginable complexity will ensue from an order-centered business flow mechanism. Orders can be issued and modified through the network. This leads to the emergence of networking customs clearance. According to the "Letter of Guarantee on the Liability of Applicable Convenient Customs Procedures", Haier will enjoy six convenient customs clearance measures such as early customs clearance, network clearance, fast transfer, rush clearance, onsite inspection, and guaranteed inspection, and 3 convenient measures like registry exemption, contract examination exemption and brochure exemption. These measures will further improve the international competitiveness of Haier Group.
