"Chinese companies should learn Haier for its awareness of giving publicit..
"Chinese companies should learn Haier for its awareness of giving publicity to the company's brand by tapping overseas markets for its products", said Ms Wu Yi, State Councilor, at the "Symposium on Trade Promotion through Technology for Major Chinese City Mayors", which was held in Beijing on May 10th 2001. The symposium was attended by the mayors of ten major Chinese cities. High-rank officials of 9 state ministries and commissions, including Information Industry Ministry and Ministry of Sciences and Technology, also took part in the symposium.
Ms Wu's remarks were made when she heard Mr Qu Weizhi, deputy minister of Information Industry, reporting that Haier exported over 200,000 sets of mobile phones to other countries. Ms Wu believed that there are many large Chinese enterprises who lack of such awareness. Other participants agreed with Ms Wu's opinion and they commented that Haier's insistence on exporting its brand products has set a good example for many large Chinese companies to crack international markets.
