Haier Ranked Ninth among World Top Ten Household Electric Giant
In the latest issue of the American journal Household Electric Appliances (2001, 2), Haier was listed among the world top ten household electric manufacturers. In this list, there are 3 American companies, 2 European companies and 4 Japanese companies; Haier is the only Chinese company. It ranked ninth, ahead of Japanese Hitachi. The top one is American Hewlett Packard.
The journal analyzed, "Competition in the world market for household electric appliances is still intense; there has not a single manufacturer whose products can make up 10% of the world market share. But most market leaders are carrying out productions in many countries and provide a complete range of household electric product series. Those big companies, such as Siemens, Lidu, GE, Haier, Panasonic and Hewlett Packard have accounted for a major part of the market." At the same time, the journal envisaged the 2001 market and put Chinese household electric enterprises in a list. Haier was ranked first comprehensively and in the sub-categories of refrigerators, air conditioners, dual-tube washing machines and vacuum cleaners.
