Haier Has Posed a Challenge to Italy in the Field of Household Electric Applian.. March 7th 2001 Italian Twenty Four Hours' Sun reported: "Italy's leading position in the white household electric industry is facing challenges from China and South Korea. South Korean and Chinese companies are seeking to take over the leading position from Italy. The Haier Group, the best-known and most ambitious manufacturer in the Chinese white household electric industry and video and audio sectors, has made an official announcement that its subsidiary company in Italy have been put into operation under a joint management of Chinese and Italians. The sales volume of the Haier Group has exceeded US$4.9 billion per annum. Its annual production output is 3 million refrigerators, 3 million washing machines, 1 million televisions and over 2.5 million air conditioners. Currently Haier is exporting air conditioners to European countries and it has decided to export other household electric products to Europe.
