Haier Thailand Makes MIIT Overseas Smart Factory List
2026.06.03
On May 28, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the first compilation of cases on overseas smart factories. Haier Air Conditioning’s Chonburi Park in Thailand was selected, emerging as the sole overseas manufacturing base in the white goods sector to receive this authoritative certification. The base sets a replicable and scalable global benchmark for Chinese manufacturing standards going global.
The selection for MIIT’s first batch of overseas smart factory cases follows extremely stringent criteria. From planning to commissioning, Haier’s Chonburi Park in Thailand has been built against world-leading benchmarks. As Haier’s first overseas digital twin interconnected smart factory, the site covers roughly 324,000 square metres with a designed annual capacity of six million sets. Put into operation in September 2025, it ranks as Thailand’s most intelligent and largest manufacturing base for air conditioner production. The park has deployed 23 digital systems across 13 core fields to realise end-to-end connectivity covering order processing, production and supply chain management, lifting order delivery efficiency by 50% and overall production efficiency by 35%, achieving full capacity right after launch.
The park integrates AI and digital technologies into the full workflow of R&D, production, quality inspection and equipment management. Powered by AI applications, its R&D cycle is cut by 30%, while automation of core working procedures hits 45%. AI-powered visual inspection and acoustic noise detection are deployed across all production lines. Every step from customer order placement to finished product delivery is digitally visible, controllable and traceable, enabling finished products to meet global market access requirements.
Beyond smart manufacturing, the park advances green development in parallel. It pioneers the overseas application of vacuum degreasing eco-friendly technology and installs a distributed photovoltaic system generating nearly 9 MWh of clean power annually, eliminating over 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year. The facility has obtained Thailand’s highest-tier A2+ certification from BOI, building a benchmark for sustainable overseas manufacturing via clean energy and eco-friendly processes. Its proven smart manufacturing model can be rolled out across full product lines including refrigerators, washing machines and kitchen appliances, driving the shift of global manufacturing toward intelligence, high efficiency and low carbon.
Its inclusion in MIIT’s first overseas smart factory case compilation marks a key milestone in Haier Smart Home’s globalisation and demonstrates the fruitful global expansion of China’s home appliance manufacturing industry. Going forward, Haier Smart Home will keep upgrading its worldwide manufacturing footprint with digital and low-carbon technologies, building more benchmark projects featuring Chinese smart manufacturing and supporting high-quality global expansion for Chinese enterprises.
