On November 23rd local time, a heartwarming video was uploaded to “Snapshot” Haier website by Rajan, a netizen. In the video, an elderly security guard is on duty in a deserted company during Diwali in India. Then the staff members suddenly appear with kids to celebrate the festival with him.
Although there are no Haier products in the video, the warmth of the Haier brand has been brought to people. After the communication between Haier’s staff and Rajan, it is known that the video was posted on social media by Haier India on November 14th, the first day of Diwali. It moved so many local users that 75,000 views were received within 8 hours.
Diwali, aka “the festival of lights”, is the most important festival in India. During Diwali in previous years, houses, streets and stores would be decorated with beautiful candles and lights, and people would take sweet treats and gifts to visit friends and relatives. According to Rajan, this Diwali is not as lively as it was due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, this video exactly touches many people’s hearts.
The challenges may change the way we celebrate, but can’t take away the joy and happiness of the festival of lights. It is learnt that Haier India prepared gifts for every staff members to celebrate Diwali. Besides, during the epidemic, Haier India made an all-out effort to keep staff members safe and actively undertook social responsibilities, e.g. offering caring meals and donating protective equipment and daily necessities such as face masks and disinfectant. Additionally, Haier India donated Haier fridges to local hospitals for medication storage.
One of Diwali’s main purposes is to celebrate the victory over darkness and evil. Currently, the COVID-19 epidemic is still raging in the world including India. As the most globalized Chinese enterprise, Haier India, via the light of Diwali, hopes for an early victory over the virus. Meanwhile, a great local brand image and a good reputation will be gained.
