National Household Appliance Standardization Technical Committee recommended Ha.. On April 26---the fifth "International intellectual property day", the news press hosted by China Association for Standardization (CAS) opened at Beijing. The theme is "to promote technology innovation, to protect intellectual property and to build international standard". Mr. Li Zhonghai, director of CSA, awarded CAS certificate to Haier Group during the news press, which implies that CSA has recognized "double motive power washer" as a brand new type of washing machine after impeller type, cylinder type and whip type. There is even more exciting news from the conference: after verification by National Household Appliance Standardization Technical Committee, Haier double motive power washer has been accepted as an IEC standard proposal. Once the proposal is passed by IEC, "double motive power" shall become an international manufacturing standard in the washer industry. At present, the volume of production for Haier double motive power washer amount to one billion. It has taken up more than 50% in high-end washing machine market since it appeared on the market. Editor's comment: a piece of patent influences one enterprise only, while a standard shall impact upon a whole industry or even the competitiveness of a country. The one owns the market that owns the standards. Once the fourth type washing machine¡ª"double motive power" standard is recognized and promoted in the world, it shall not only win much wider market for Haier washing machine, but also accelerate the upgrade of international washing machine industry.
