Haier Convenes A Conference Celebrating The 18th Anniversary It is estimated that Haier's 2002 global sales is RMB72 billion, RMB11.8 more than that in 2001. Haier's 13 overseas production facilities have been put into operation, generating a total value of USD1 billion, an increase of 37% over previous year. Chinese saying that auspicious snow leads to an abundant year. On December 26, heavy snow covers Haier (QETDZ) Industrial Complex, where the Celebration of the 18th Anniversary of Founding of Haier Group and Haier's Globalization Strategy Kick-off and Symposium for Haier's Innovation as One of Global Top 5 White Goods Makers was held. Wang Renyuan, vice governor of Shandong, Xia Geng, vice secretary of CPC Qingdao Committee and vice mayor of Qingdao and other officials from Shandong and Qingdao governments attended the event. Chen Jinhua, vice chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, chairman of China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association, Zhang Gaoli, secretary of CPC Shandong Committee and governor of Shandong province and Han Yuqun, vice standing governor of Shandong province sent their congratulatory messages. Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. president Ille Toshiaki attended the event and delivered a speech on the cooperation between Haier and Sanyo over the past one year (See page 2) Haier president Yang Mianmian introduced the achievements of Haier in 2002 in the areas of improvement and upgrading of management and resource utilization. Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin delivered a speech on performance of Haier's globalization strategy over the past few years. Well know economist Ai Feng summarized Haier's contributions to Chinese economic research circule by Haier cooperative corporate philosophy (See page 2). The opening ceremony of UIBE (University of International Business and Economics) Haier Business College was held at the event. After the meeting, guests visited Haier Home Systems Exhibition in the construction, Space Flying Disk, on top of which participants overlooked Haier (QETDZ) Industrial Complex. Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin explained the concept of Haier's globalization strategy, ranging from why Haier put forward the globalization strategy and how Haier focuses on developing qualified enterprises for Haier's globalization strategy performance, and pointed out that it is a must for Haier to implement a globalization strategy after China's entry to WTO. Mr. Zhang iterated that previously, it had been "Dancing with Wolves"and currently, it would be "Surviving with Wolves", indicating that Haier will grow and learn from successful multinationals. Mr. Zhang analyzed the methods to improve Haier's proficiency for success in international competition for globalized management, after-sales service and brand promotion. At last, Mr. Zhang pointed out that Haier should aim to become one of the world top 5 white goods makers and achieve final success no matter how far the road is and how many difficulties we will face as long as every employee of Haier becomes a SBU.
